Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], September 9: Child Help Foundation, a Pan-India non-profit organization, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Metropolis Healthcare Limited to implement the Adolescent Skilling and Adolescent Reproductive and Sexual Health (ARSH) project across 516 villages in Palghar district, Maharashtra.
Child Help Foundation actively promotes gender equality and a healthy and hygienic environment for adolescent girls by providing them with the basic knowledge of sanitization. Through this collaboration and the project ARSH, CHF’s mission is to reach the maximum number of adolescent girls across five tribal blocks, Wada, Mokhada, Jawhar, Vikramgad, and Dahanu, focusing on equipping them with critical life skills, reproductive health awareness, and sustainable practices for long-term well-being.
Speaking on this significant collaboration, Mr. Jiji John, Executive Director, Child Help Foundation, said, “Child Help Foundation always stand for a healthy and hygienic world for all and worked apprehensively towards it. Empowering adolescents with the right knowledge and skills is the foundation for a healthier and more equitable society. Through this initiative, we aim to create safe, informed spaces where adolescents can thrive and lead change within their communities.”
Under the project ARSH, the organisation will establish five Adolescent-Friendly Model Gaons, each addressing one of the following thematic areas: dowry eradication, plastic-free living, nutrition awareness or village cleanliness. These model villages will serve as inspiration for peer-driven behavioural change and sustainable development. In addition to this, Kishori Manch sessions will be launched for 60 girls, creating safe and inclusive spaces for adolescent girls to discuss health, hygiene, and empowerment and 150 adolescent girls will be identified and linked to existing government schemes, ensuring access to critical support services.
As part of the life-skills approach, the project will also introduce kitchen gardening in schools, teaching students sustainable food practices while promoting nutrition and environmental consciousness.
CHF team members Dr. Sunil Pandey, Shilpa Lokhande, and Deepika Rathod, with valuable contributions from Chris Shenoy during the project’s earlier phase, are working hard to make this project more impactful and successful. CHF and Metropolis Healthcare aim to foster a healthier, more informed, and self-reliant generation in Palghar by combining community engagement, health education, and life-skills development in this program. This initiative marks a pivotal step toward inclusive development in one of Maharashtra’s most underprivileged regions.
