He was speaking after inaugurating the BBC 2.0 Catalyst Program, an initiative organized by the Bangalore Bioinnovation Centre (BBC) in collaboration with K-Tech, aimed at connecting skill development with innovation and promoting self-employment.
Dr. Annadurai noted that while facilities are available in the healthcare sector, the increasing number of patients demands advanced technology and innovative solutions. He also highlighted the immense opportunities in the energy sector, stating that responsible involvement can transform many existing challenges into opportunities.
“Bengaluru, particularly through its IT and BT sectors, has the potential to make a global mark and become a hub for innovation-led development,” he added.
Innovation in Agriculture:
Dr. Annadurai emphasized that India is primarily an agricultural nation and holds the top position globally in banana cultivation. “Banana pseudostems, which are usually discarded after harvest, create waste management challenges for farmers. by applying research-based solutions, this solid waste can be reprocessed and recycled, creating value instead of waste,” he explained.
Chandrayaan’s Global Recognition:
Drawing parallels with space exploration, he mentioned, “Although around 100 missions attempted lunar exploration, Chandrayaan gained global recognition as the first mission to analyze the Moon uniquely and comprehensively. The Moon is the same for everyone; the difference lies in the perspective. India is moving towards the peak of the global innovation ecosystem. With the right combination of talent, technology, and cooperation, India has the potential to deliver transformative missions.” At BBC.
BBC 2.0 – Mission for Life sciences:
Speaking on the occasion, Dr.Manjula N IAS Secretary Dept of E, IT and BT GOK and Chairperson BBC *Mr. Rahul Sharanappa Sankanur, Managing Director,* Department of Electronics, IT, BT (GoK) and Director BBC, stated about the new phase of BBC activities and new initiatives of Beyond Bangalore along with the collaboration with NABARD and RKVY is playing a significant and effective role in promoting innovation-based solutions in agriculture. He stressed that focusing on nutrition, value addition, and sustainable food systems is essential for Karnataka’s long-term development. Also NABARD support in establishment of new BBC NABARD-RKVY Agri innovations centre. Also Bangalore BIOBANK and DATA bank establishment at BBC.
“BBC 2.0 has not only demonstrated success but also has strong potential to reach more stakeholders and attract maximum support. With continued cooperation between academia, government, and industry, BBC 2.0 can become a sustainable model platform for innovation in the state,” he expressed.
