New Delhi (India), June 13: These days, it is normal to seek the best and most affordable healthcare options globally, especially as communications and travel services become increasingly convenient, accessible, and affordable.

ClinicSpots is a doctor discovery platform conceptualized and developed to offer a vast database of qualified and experienced doctors and advanced medical treatment available in India. Designed to respond to search queries, ClinicSpots is fortified with a repository of authentic medical information that is accessible in easy-to-understand and user-friendly patterns.

Visitors can view and connect with doctors offering suitable medical treatment for their conditions through our doctor discovery platform and seek assistance when traveling to India. We are sharing some of our case stories that relate to our service offerings and the support that we provide to our patients.

MD. Shipon, a 46-year-old schoolteacher from Bangladesh, was diagnosed with stage 2 oral cancer. He experienced excessive gum bleeding and swelling after a tooth extraction. Further investigation revealed stage 2 cancer. An online search for oral cancer treatment made him contact ClinicSpots.

The customer service team at Clinicspots promptly responded to his query with a comprehensive treatment approach and cost estimates. The medical advisor at ClinicSpots helped Mr. Shipon connect seamlessly with the best oncologists in India.

“We gauged the urgency of Shipon’s case,” says Ms Vishaka Goyal, Co-founder and Business Head of Clinicspots. “Our team efficiently processed his visa application within 48 hours, allowing him to travel to India for suitable treatment without delay.”

MD. Shipon underwent cancer surgery followed by reconstructive plastic surgery, which restored his facial structure and smile within nine days of his admission at Nanavati Max Institute of Cancer Care, which is among the best cancer hospitals in India. Currently MD. Shipon has returned to Bangladesh after undergoing cancer treatment. He will return for a follow-up after 45 days. He has also resumed his teaching duties.

ClinicSpots, Your Partner in Doctor Discovery

ClincSpots has many such patient stories to share. As one of India’s leading doctor discovery portals, ClinicSpots reaches out to innumerable patients seeking treatment in India. It undertakes to provide them with a second opinion from expert doctors and accredited hospitals in India and connect with them. If keen, it arranges for their medical visa and offers concierge services to these tourists till they recover and return home.

Cancer Treatment in India

India is at the helm of a medical revolution. With many hospitals seeking global accreditations and strengthened with a pool of exceptionally qualified doctors, India has emerged as a safe and reliable medical tourist destination.

Cost of Cancer Treatment in India – A Comparative Overview

The cost of cancer treatment in India is one of its most significant advantages compared to developed nations and the rest of the world. This is because of the availability of generic drugs, less expensive hospital stays, and affordable miscellaneous expenses. However, costs vary depending upon specific treatments such as surgery, chemotherapy, radiation, etc, which further depend upon the type and stage of cancer.

For instance, the cost of cancer consultations is between $100 and $200, while the price of surgery, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy is between $5000 and $10,000, $1000 and $2000, and $200 and $300, respectively.

On the other hand, in the UK and the USA, consultations cost $800+, while the remaining expenses range between $40,000 and $80,000+, $8,000 and $15,000+, and $800-$1,500+, respectively.

Presence of Expert and Experienced Oncologists in India

India offers state-of-the-art cancer treatment at various accredited hospitals. With a pool of talented and experienced doctors and medical assistants, there is scope for seeking treatment of nearly every type of cancer – head and neck cancer, lung cancer, renal cancer, breast cancer, stomach cancer, gastrointestinal cancer, and liver cancer, to mention a few of them.

Every oncologist recommends treatment for the patient’s best possible recovery. The mainstays of cancer treatment include surgery, chemotherapy, and radiation, along with other allied treatment options. In India, too, most oncologists focus on offering comprehensive treatment protocols while ensuring minimal trauma and discomfort to their patients.

With this goal in mind, Dr. Sandeep Nayak of MACS Clinic, Bangalore, is a reputed senior surgical oncologist (cancer surgeon) specializing in performing minimally invasive cancer surgeries using a robotic platform. He invented the Robotic-Assisted Breast-Axillo Insufflated Thyroidectomy (RABIT), which leaves nearly no scars. At the same time, the minor scars are hidden, as opposed to conventional open surgery, which leaves a visible long scar.

Dr. Sandeep Nayak of MACS Clinic states,’ To do away with significant and visible scars as a result of open thyroid surgery, RABIT has emerged as a preferred option to remove thyroid tumors. The surgery is performed with small-sized incisions in the armpit region near the breast using a robot for precision, leaving behind tiny scars. Similarly, RIA-MIND or the Robotic Infraclavicular Approach for Minimally Invasive Neck Dissection (RIA-MIND), is a surgery to remove cancerous tissues and lymph nodes from the neck. Since both surgeries are performed using the robotic approach, there is minimal blood loss, and the patients recover fast, leaving behind negligible and tiny scars.’

Speaking on the currently available oncology treatment in India, Dr. Donald Babu, Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital, Navi Mumbai, states, ‘Oncology treatment in India extends to include organ preservation surgery, HIPEC and Peritonectomy, robotic & laparoscopic onco-surgeries. The scope of cancer treatment includes advanced and precise treatment options such as targeted radiation and immunotherapy that promise better outcomes at cost-effective rates compared to those available in developed countries.

Recently, Dr. Donald Babu treated an appendix cancer patient with HIPEC Peritonectomy. The patient was a 38-year-old Iranian male who was advised to undergo the HIPEC Peritonectomy in the USA, which costs approximately $30000. In India, HIPEC Peritonectomy is available for $4000 or more, depending upon the patient’s condition.

Hence, he chose India for his treatment under Dr. Donald Babu. He stayed in India for two weeks and returned to his country once he was ready to travel.  HIPEC is a preferred treatment for abdominal, ovarian, gastric, and peritoneal mesothelioma cancers.

Dr. Ganesh Nagarajan, Director of Surgical Oncology—hepatobiliary, Pancreatic, and Gastrointestinal Cancers at the Nanavati Max Institute of Cancer Care, states, ‘The liver cancer treatment in India includes partial hepatectomy, liver transplantations and resections within the customized treatment protocol. It has also improved the prognosis of liver and pancreatic cancer patients with HPB malignancies.’

India offers other non-surgical treatment options, such as Thermal Ablation, Radiofrequency ablation (RFA), Transarterial chemoembolization (TACE), Transarterial radioembolization (SIRT), Radiation therapy, Chemotherapy, and immunotherapy.

Dr. Ganesh Nagarajan shares the story of a 52-year-old Iraqi woman patient diagnosed with stage 1 liver cancer. Through ClinicSpots, she approached Dr. Nagrajan, who recommended liver resection to remove the affected section of her liver. She flew to India courtesy of ClinicSpots, who promptly helped her acquire a medical e-visa. She sought treatment at Nanavati Max Institute of Cancer Care. She underwent a liver section via total laparoscopy and recovered well. Moreover, the liver has a regenerating capacity, which increases her chances of survival.
