Training Everyday Heroes: Why Life Savers First Aid is Launching in India

Bengaluru (Karnataka) [India], July 30: Every emergency begins the same way—someone needs help, and someone nearby has a choice to make. It could be a parent watching their child choke, a teacher responding to a student who suddenly collapses, a colleague witnessing a cardiac arrest at work, or a passer-by arriving first at the scene of a road accident.

In those first few minutes, before an ambulance arrives or a doctor takes over, the actions of an ordinary person can make an extraordinary difference.

It is this simple but powerful belief that inspired Life Savers First Aid, officially launched on 8 July 2026, by partners Moira Lewis and Diwakar.

After successfully operating in Australia for the past two years and training more than 500 students in the last year alone, the founders recognised an opportunity to bring the same practical, confidence-building approach to India.

Their goal extends beyond teaching first aid techniques. They want to help build a culture where people feel prepared to act rather than helpless during an emergency.

More Than a Business: A Mission

For Moira Lewis, first aid has always been about empowering people rather than simply delivering training.

Throughout her work in Australia, she saw a common transformation. People often arrived at training sessions believing emergency response was something only doctors or nurses could do. By the end of the course, they left with the confidence to recognise an emergency, provide immediate assistance, and potentially save a life.

That same philosophy now forms the foundation of Life Savers First Aid in India.

“Every person should know what to do in an emergency. First aid is not just a professional skill; it’s a life skill,” is the principle driving the organisation.

The First Few Minutes Matter

India is home to one of the world’s largest populations, and emergencies occur every day in homes, schools, workplaces, factories, sporting venues, and on the roads.

While emergency medical services continue to grow, professional help cannot be everywhere at once.

The moments immediately following a cardiac arrest, choking incident, severe bleeding, burn, seizure, or other medical emergency are often the most critical.

The people present in those moments are rarely healthcare professionals.

  • They are family members.
  • Teachers.
  • Friends.
  • Security personnel.
  • Construction workers.
  • Office colleagues.
  • Neighbours.
  • Members of the public.

Life Savers First Aid believes these everyday people should have the knowledge and confidence to respond safely until professional medical care arrives.

Training for Everyone

Unlike traditional perceptions that first aid is only relevant to healthcare workers, Life Savers First Aid has adopted a much broader vision.

The organisation plans to deliver practical, nationally and internationally informed training across:

  • Schools
  • Colleges and universities
  • Corporate organisations
  • Industrial workplaces
  • Community groups
  • Healthcare professionals
  • Families and members of the general public

Courses will include CPR, First Aid, workplace emergency response, and other practical life-saving skills designed to prepare individuals for real-world emergencies.

The focus is not simply on completing a course but on developing the confidence to act calmly and effectively when every second counts.

A Vision Beginning in Bengaluru

Life Savers First Aid will commence its journey from Bengaluru, with a long-term vision of expanding its reach across India.

The founders believe that every community deserves access to high-quality emergency response education, regardless of profession or background.

Their ambition is to work with schools, businesses, educational institutions, industries, and community organisations to make first aid knowledge more accessible and more widely understood.

Creating Everyday Heroes

Not every hero wears a uniform.

  • Sometimes a hero is a teacher who recognises the signs of cardiac arrest.
  • Sometimes it is a parent who knows how to respond when a child is choking.
  • Sometimes it is a colleague who starts CPR before paramedics arrive.
  • Sometimes it is a stranger who refuses to stand by and instead chooses to help.

Life Savers First Aid was founded on the belief that these everyday heroes already exist; they simply need the right knowledge, practical skills, and confidence.

As the organisation begins its journey in India, its mission is clear: to help create safer homes, stronger workplaces, more prepared schools, and communities where more people are ready to step forward when it matters most.

Because saving a life should never depend solely on who arrives first; it should also depend on who is prepared to help.
