Chapter 1: Two Doctors. One Dream.

Coming from a middle-class family, the brothers did not have the advantage of substantial financial resources, an established business network or previous experience in building a skincare company. What they had was a shared dream and the willingness to learn.
Their vision was simple: skincare should not be driven only by exaggerated promises or changing market trends. It should begin with understanding the skin, its concerns, the ingredients used and the science behind formulations. Chapter 2: Starting From Scratch
The journey was not supported by a large team or an established infrastructure. The brothers first established their own private limited company and completed the required registrations and documentation.
Then came the bigger challenge learning the business itself.
From formulation and manufacturing to packaging, marketing and online sales, they had to understand almost every aspect of building a brand. There was no shortcut. They learned through research, experimentation, challenges and experience.
For the brothers, entrepreneurship became a process of doing everything themselves and gradually turning an idea into something tangible.
Chapter 3: Why Skincare?
The decision to enter skincare came naturally from Dr. Darshan’s clinical experience with skin-related patients.
Through this exposure, the brothers encountered common concerns such as acne, pigmentation, post-acne marks, dullness and uneven skin tone. At the same time, their research revealed an intensely competitive Indian skincare market.
Instead of simply entering an existing trend, they wanted to create a brand around clinical understanding, active ingredients and purposeful formulations.
This became the core approach behind The Skindepth: to look beyond the surface and understand skincare more deeply.
Chapter 4: The Meaning Behind The Skindepth
Even the name of the brand carries the founders’ philosophy.
After extensive discussions, the brothers chose the name The Skindepth, inspired by the idea that what we see on the surface may only represent a small part of a much larger picture.
They compared it to an iceberg only a small portion is visible above the water, while much more exists beneath the surface.
For the founders, understanding skin requires the same approach. It means going deeper into skin concerns, ingredients and skincare rather than focusing only on what is immediately visible.
Chapter 5: A Beginning With Three Serums
The Skindepth began its product journey with three targeted face serums:
– Vitamin C 10% Face Serum
– Salicylic Acid 2% Face Serum
– Niacinamide 10% Face Serum
But bringing these products to market was not an overnight process.
The brothers spent almost a year researching formulations, active ingredients, manufacturing and stability before launching their products. Every element had to be understood before it became part of the brand.
Chapter 6: Why the Black Bottle?
The distinctive black packaging was not chosen merely for aesthetics.
The founders considered the sensitivity of certain active ingredients to light and oxidation while developing their packaging approach. Protective black bottles became part of the product design.
The result was a visual identity that was minimal, premium and purposeful, supported by a black-and-white design and product-specific colour coding.
For The Skindepth, packaging became another extension of the philosophy function first, while maintaining a refined identity.
Chapter 7: The First Order
The Skindepth finally launched toward the end of April.
With limited marketing budgets and no established sales network, the brothers once again had to learn. This time, the challenge was e-commerce and digital marketing.
Then, a few days after launch, something happened that transformed the months of preparation into a real business the first order arrived.
The brothers packed the order themselves and included a handwritten thank-you note.
For most businesses, a first order is a transaction. For Dr. Brijesh and Dr. Darshan, it represented something much bigger: proof that the dream they had spent almost a year building had reached its first customer.
Chapter 8: The Reality of Building a Brand
The early months brought the realities of entrepreneurship.
Sales were slower than expected. Marketing was expensive. There was still a great deal to learn. But the brothers continued.
Every order, customer review and challenge became another lesson. The Skindepth was never intended to become an overnight success. The idea was to build it patiently, one step at a time.
Chapter 9: Developed by Doctors
At the centre of The Skindepth is its identity: Developed by Doctors.
The founders bring together their clinical exposure, knowledge of ingredients, formulation research and understanding of common Indian skincare concerns.
The products are supported by relevant testing, documentation and certifications applicable to their formulations. For the brothers, “Developed by Doctors” is more than a tagline it represents the responsibility they have taken in creating the brand.
Chapter 10: From India to the World
The Skindepth is still at an early stage, but its ambitions extend beyond its first three products.
The brothers are working towards developing face wash, moisturiser and sunscreen, with appropriate formulation, stability testing and quality checks.
Their long-term vision is to build an Indian, doctor-developed skincare brand with global recognition.
The journey is still being written. But it began with two brothers, limited resources and the courage to learn.
