Ahmedabad (Gujarat) [India], October 15: The story is connecting deeply with audiences across Gujarat and all over India. Seeing the incredible response from across the country, preparations are reportedly underway for remakes in Hindi, Marathi, and Tamil, according to insider sources.
When it comes to Gujaratis, discussions about food, flavor, and culinary delights are inevitable! As the popular saying goes, “Life only has true flavor when there’s chatni!” — and this delicious premise is currently proving true at the box office. At a time when Gujarati cinema is passing through its golden era, the family entertainer film Chatni, produced under the banner of Eforu Entertainment, is running to housefull shows across theaters.
What is most interesting is that the film’s storyline is not restricted to Gujarat alone; its deep family emotions and authentic cultural roots have forged a strong connection with viewers across India. Universal themes of maternal love, family values, and personal struggle resonate with audiences from every region. Encouraged by this overwhelming love and appreciation, producers Prashant Modi, Nilesh Modi, Amit Vedawala, and Harsh Patel are now planning to adapt the film into Hindi, Marathi, and Tamil, with an official announcement expected soon.
Helmed by Sandeep Patel — the director behind the cult classic Love Ni Bhavai — and guided by creative producer Neeraj Joshi, Chatni is more than just about culinary taste; it is a unique tale of family emotions and relationships. At the heart of the story lies a 115-year-old family recipe and a legacy centered around a mother’s secret chutney recipe. In the film, the son (Malhar Thakar) embarks on a mission to bring his mother’s traditional recipe to the world by building it into a modern brand, showcasing a touching mother-son bond that leaves audiences emotional.
During this entrepreneurial journey, an ideological clash between the forward-thinking son and his traditional father adds a compelling turn to the narrative. The father’s initial resistance, business struggles, and the ambition to keep heritage alive amid city life challenges are beautifully depicted on screen. The eventual resolution and warmth between father and son touch the hearts of every family.
Gujarati cinema’s popular real-life couple, Malhar Thakar and Pooja Joshi, share the screen as a lead couple for the first time since their marriage, and their effortless chemistry is winning praise. Additionally, stellar performances by seasoned actors including Prashant Barot, Hetal Modi, Smit Joshi, Premal Yagnik, Manisha Trivedi, and Akash Zala serve as key pillars of the film’s success. Packed with humor, heart, and values, Chatni offers a wholesome moviegoing experience for families across India.
