New Delhi [India], October 20: Indian mythology isn’t fading out it’s just finding new ways to reach people. Animated shows have jumped in as one of the main vehicles for this, and The Legend of Hanuman is proof. The show returns for its seventh season on October 23, 2026, streaming only on JioHotstar, right when the plot is heating up as the battle for Lanka reaches its peak.
The series takes classic stories from the Ramayana and gives them an animated spin. Familiar faces, age-old adventures, but wrapped in a style that fits perfectly with how we watch content now—on our phones, TVs, or pretty much any screen. The fact that The Legend of Hanuman keeps coming back for new seasons just goes to show that old Indian legends can work well in a modern streaming world.
Bringing Traditional Stories to Today’s Kids
For generations, Indian families have shared tales of Lord Rama, Hanuman, and the Ramayana through books, conversations around the table, TV shows, and even local plays. Animation puts these stories in front of a new crowd, especially kids and younger viewers who spend most of their screen time on digital platforms.
With animation, the creators are free to show wild battles, magical worlds, and larger-than-life heroes without worrying about special effects budgets or what real sets can manage. It lets them get creative with visuals while sticking to the heart of the story everyone already loves.
But The Legend of Hanuman isn’t just about epic fights. It digs deeper into Hanuman’s devotion to Lord Rama, his loyalty, and his own journey to discovering what he’s really made of. These moments make the story feel richer and give people familiar touchstones, even as the show explores different wrinkles in the bigger epic.
What’s Coming in Season 7
So, what’s on deck for season 7? The story’s heading into a pivotal stretch as the battle for Lanka comes to a head. The trailer shows Hanuman searching for a legendary weapon to take down Ravana, while moving through different timelines that reveal more about Rama’s past and divine power.
Sharad Kelkar returns as the voice of Ravana, bringing back the intensity fans have come to expect. The show’s produced by Sharad Devarajan, Jeevan J. Kang, and Charuvi Agarwal, with direction from Jeevan J. Kang and Naveen John.
October 23, 2026, marks the big release on JioHotstar, keeping The Legend of Hanuman at the front of the pack when it comes to mythological stories made for streaming.
Why Mythology Fits Episodic Storytelling
A single movie just can’t capture the range and detail of something like the Ramayana, but an ongoing animated series can. Splitting things into episodes means each character, relationship, and twist gets space to breathe. Fans follow the journey stage by stage, giving the show time to develop both the plot and the people in it.
For younger viewers, short and snappy episodes with vibrant visuals and recurring characters make mythology more inviting. Instead of feeling like homework, these stories feel accessible and fresh. Meanwhile, people who already know these epics get to see them from a new angle, with creative animation adding another layer.
It also gives streaming platforms a real advantage: people come back season after season, invested in what happens next. Of course, none of that matters if the writing, animation, and performances don’t measure up.
Animation’s Bigger Role in Indian Entertainment
Mythology in animation is just one way Indian stories are being reinvented for modern viewers. Animation studios are diving into all sorts of stories from folklore to modern fantasy and that variety keeps things interesting.
Streaming makes it even easier. Dubs and subtitles mean these series can reach audiences outside their home language, traveling across the country or even abroad. There’s a bigger audience out there for Indian myths than ever before.
The balancing act for creators is keeping the source material’s soul while still playing with style and storytelling. Sure, big, bold visuals are great, but the characters and their emotional journeys are what keep people watching.
With season 7 on the horizon, The Legend of Hanuman is proving that old stories can have new lives. The longer season format lets the Ramayana unfold naturally, while animation brings its grand scale to life. In the end, the real win for mythological animation is keeping these stories alive for new generations without losing the meaning that’s kept them important for so long.
