New Delhi [India], October 21: With the festive season approaching, kitchens across India are preparing for increased cooking and meal preparation. From slicing vegetables and fruits to preparing meat and other ingredients, a good-quality kitchen knife can make everyday kitchen work easier. KAI India, the Indian subsidiary of Japan’s leading kitchen and beauty tools brand KAI, offers the Shun Sora Santoku Knife, a high-performance kitchen essential known for its sharpness, strength and precision. With its versatile functionality and reliable performance, the knife is a valuable addition to every modern kitchen.
Designed for slicing, dicing and mincing, the Shun Sora Santoku Knife helps users cut vegetables, fruits, meat and other ingredients with greater precision. The hollow-ground indentations along the blade help food release more easily during cutting, reducing sticking and making preparation smoother.
The knife features a composite blade with a high-performance VG10 cutting core and a Japanese 420J stainless steel upper layer. Enriched with vanadium and cobalt, VG10 steel is known for its strength, hardness and ability to retain its edge over time. The blade is hand-sharpened to a precise 16-degree angle to support clean and accurate cutting, while the polymer blend handle offers a comfortable and secure grip during use.
“Festive cooking brings increased activity into the kitchen, and having the right knife can make the process more convenient. In Japan, a blade is more than a tool; it represents a long-standing tradition of craftsmanship. The Shun Sora Santoku Knife reflects KAI’s commitment to bringing together this heritage with thoughtful design and modern technology. Our aim is to offer Indian consumers reliable kitchen tools that support their everyday cooking needs,” said Chandan Biswal, Head of Marketing and E-commerce, KAI India.
Japanese blade-making has a long-standing history, from renowned samurai swords to contemporary culinary cutlery. Seki City has been at the heart of Japan’s cutlery industry since the 13th century and continues to be known for its blade-making heritage. KAI, the maker of Shun fine cutlery, was founded in Seki in 1908.
Inspired by ancient Japanese traditions, Shun’s skilled artisans continue to handcraft each knife in its Seki City facilities. Every knife involves at least 100 individual steps before completion. Traditional craftsmanship is combined with premium materials and modern technology to create precision-made cutlery for professional chefs and home cooks around the world.
The name ‘Shun’ comes from the Japanese culinary tradition of appreciating the exact moment when an ingredient is at its best—whether a fruit is perfectly ripe, a vegetable is at its peak or meat is at its most flavourful. The name reflects the importance of seasonal, mindful eating and Shun’s focus on precision cutting.
The KAI Shun Sora Santoku Knife is available at ₹14,000 through www.kaiindiaonline.com and other leading e-commerce platforms. Handcrafted in Japan, the knife is designed for everyday kitchen use and festive meal preparation.
