Thane (Maharashtra) [India], October 27: As technology continues to influence how students learn, access to quality educational resources remains an important challenge. Language differences, limited digital infrastructure and inconsistent internet connectivity can affect how learners access information and understand complex subjects. Eprashala, an Indian education technology organisation founded by Dr. Pramod Shinde, is working to address these challenges through an integrated ecosystem combining artificial intelligence, digital classroom technology and multilingual knowledge resources.
With more than 16 years of experience in rural and government-school education, Eprashala has developed its approach around the practical needs of students and teachers. Its initiatives include Dhwani AI Teacher, Digital Nalanda, Book-to-AI technology and Bharat.eprashala.com, an initiative focused on exploring traditional Indian literature through conversational learning.
Bringing Personalised Learning Closer to Students
One of Eprashala’s key initiatives is Dhwani AI Teacher, a platform designed to help students explore educational material through conversational explanations and question-based learning. Instead of relying only on conventional reading methods, learners can use supported AI features to revisit difficult concepts, ask questions and explore topics at their own pace.
The platform brings together resources associated with Indian state-board curricula, CBSE, ICSE and NCERT, alongside international education pathways such as IGCSE and the International Baccalaureate. It also references education systems in countries including Singapore, Japan, Finland and Canada.
The availability of specific subjects, boards and modules may vary across the platform. Its broader objective is to provide additional learning support while recognising that teachers remain central to education. AI-based explanations can complement classroom teaching by giving students another way to approach challenging topics and revise what they have learned.
Digital Nalanda Expands Access to Knowledge
Eprashala’s Digital Nalanda initiative reflects its wider interest in making knowledge easier to discover. The initiative initially highlighted more than 200 ancient Indian texts associated with traditions such as the Vedas, Upanishads, Ayurveda and philosophy.
The organisation now reports access to a searchable catalogue containing more than 40 million book records or knowledge resources across hundreds of languages. Users can explore available records by title, author or subject, helping them discover material that may otherwise be difficult to locate.
The distinction between discovering a book and accessing its complete digital text remains important. Not every catalogue record necessarily includes a full, accessible copy. Where digital content is available, summaries, explanations and conversational tools can offer additional ways to explore its central ideas.
By connecting traditional literature with a wider knowledge-discovery experience, Eprashala aims to support students, educators, researchers and general readers looking for information across different subjects and languages.
Turning Digital Books into Interactive Learning Resources
Another important part of the organisation’s ecosystem is its Book-to-AI creation platform. The technology is designed to transform supported digital documents, PDFs, and images into book-specific conversational knowledge resources.
The platform uses retrieval-augmented generation, commonly known as RAG. This approach retrieves relevant information from selected source material to help generate answers to questions about that content.
For students, the technology can provide another way to revisit difficult chapters. Teachers can use supported notes and study materials to create interactive learning resources, while researchers can explore lengthy reference documents through targeted questions.
Eprashala also describes a sharing feature that allows teachers to distribute AI-created books with students. This can give an entire class a common source of information while allowing individual learners to ask questions according to their needs.
The platform reports conversational support in more than 12 Indian languages, helping make source-based learning more accessible to users who may be less comfortable interacting exclusively in English.
Developing Technology for Rural Learning Conditions
Eprashala’s work in AI builds on its earlier experience with digital classrooms and education hardware. Its technology portfolio has included projector-based teaching systems, interactive learning equipment, low-power devices and solar-compatible classroom solutions.
One of its projector systems was designed to operate directly using solar energy, addressing electricity constraints in some school environments. This experience has influenced the organisation’s approach to digital learning, particularly the need to consider affordability, infrastructure and the conditions in which students actually study.
The organisation also describes the use of smart caching, downloadable learning data and device-level audio features to improve selected learning experiences. Downloaded or cached content may remain accessible offline, while features requiring live cloud-based AI processing still need an internet connection.
Eprashala has reported speed improvements of up to 100 times in suitable cached-response scenarios. Actual performance depends on the device, question, available cached information and testing conditions.
Exploring Indian Heritage Through Ancient AI Gurukul
Alongside curriculum-oriented learning, Bharat.eprashala.com introduces an “Ancient AI Gurukul” experience focused on traditional Indian literature. The platform is designed to help readers explore works associated with the Vedas, Puranas, Upanishads and Indian epics through conversational explanations and supported voice features.
The initiative aims to make complex texts more approachable by allowing users to ask questions and explore unfamiliar ideas. It forms part of a broader portfolio that includes Bhasha for language learning, competitive-examination resources, Dr. Pihu, an AI-based guide built around selected classical medical literature, and Panini, a Sanskrit-oriented programming initiative.
Supporting a Wider Vision for Education
Eprashala reports more than 16 years of work in rural and government-school education, with a reach of over five million children across more than 5,000 schools. These figures reflect the organisation’s stated experience and should be read alongside its current programme and impact records.
As India works towards Viksit Bharat 2047, the organisation is seeking to connect its classroom experience with emerging AI capabilities, digital books, language learning and knowledge discovery.
By bringing these initiatives together, Eprashala aims to make learning resources easier to access and understand across different educational backgrounds, languages and connectivity conditions. Its approach highlights a practical principle for education technology: innovation matters most when students and teachers can use it to support meaningful learning.
