Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], October 14: As demand for professional sports facilities continues to grow across schools, residential communities, academies, commercial venues, and institutional campuses, DSSI Field Sport Expert Private Limited (DS Sports Infra) is advancing an engineering-led approach to sports infrastructure development. Founded by Adv. Durga Prasad Shukla, the company focuses on delivering end-to-end sports facilities that combine civil engineering, specialized athletic surfaces, drainage planning, installation expertise, and post-handover support.
Adv. Durga Prasad Shukla brings extensive experience in sports infrastructure, having been involved in more than 600 sports projects during his career as a lead project manager, consultant, and entrepreneur. His experience across project execution and sports surface engineering has shaped DSSI’s approach to addressing challenges commonly associated with fragmented contracting and inconsistent construction practices.
The company’s core proposition is built around single-point accountability. Rather than requiring facility owners to coordinate with multiple contractors for civil work, drainage, flooring, turf, and finishing, DSSI manages the complete development process. Its services include site surveys, sub-base preparation, civil engineering, drainage systems, installation of synthetic turf and specialized surfaces, line marking, and maintenance support.
Engineering Beyond the Playing Surface
According to DSSI, the long-term performance of a sports facility depends on much more than the visible playing surface. Proper ground preparation, drainage, material selection, surface installation, and construction quality play a critical role in determining durability and usability.
This consideration becomes particularly important in Indian climatic conditions, where heavy rainfall and monsoon-related water accumulation can affect sports grounds. DSSI incorporates drainage planning and site-specific base preparation into its projects to address these challenges and create facilities designed for sustained use.
The company works across a range of sports infrastructure requirements, including synthetic turf football grounds, acrylic courts, EPDM and PU flooring systems, athletic tracks, and multi-sport facilities. Through direct sourcing and control of multiple certified surface systems, DSSI also aims to provide greater consistency in material selection and installation.
Building Facilities for Diverse Users
DSSI serves a broad customer base that includes schools, colleges, universities, housing societies, residential developers, sports academies, commercial turf operators, municipalities, and corporate campuses.
One of its highlighted projects involved the conversion of an unused housing society plot in Kalyan into a functional football turf arena within approximately six weeks. The project was developed with attention to site preparation, drainage, and the requirements of a commercially and recreationally usable sports facility.
The company has also undertaken multi-sport acrylic court and synthetic track installations for educational institutions and sports academies, including projects associated with Nath Valley School and Fatima School.
These projects reflect DSSI’s focus on creating sports environments that are practical, durable, and suited to the specific requirements of their users rather than relying on a one-size-fits-all construction model.
Responding to India’s Growing Turf Culture
India’s sports infrastructure landscape is undergoing significant change. Alongside traditional school and institutional grounds, urban areas are seeing growing interest in commercial turf facilities, recreational football, pickleball, multi-sport courts, and community-based sporting spaces.
Tier-1 and tier-2 cities are increasingly looking at sports facilities not only as competitive training environments but also as community, fitness, and commercial assets. At the institutional level, initiatives such as the Fit India Movement and Khelo India have also contributed to greater attention toward sports participation and infrastructure development.
Against this backdrop, DSSI is positioning structured project execution and technical planning as important components of the next phase of sports infrastructure development in India.
Expanding Its National Footprint
In the short term, DSSI aims to complete more than 100 projects under its own brand while expanding the regional distribution of certified sports flooring materials and turf systems across Western and Central India.
Its longer-term vision is to develop DSSI into a national sports infrastructure brand serving larger requirements such as federation-certified sports complexes, university sports hubs, and smart-city urban turf developments.
The company is also preparing to expand its commercial turf maintenance and material distribution programs across Maharashtra and neighboring regions.
For Adv. Durga Prasad Shukla and DSSI, the broader objective is to contribute to a more organized sports infrastructure ecosystem where facility development is approached as an engineering project rather than simply a surface-installation exercise.
With its emphasis on end-to-end execution, climate-conscious engineering, specialized sports surfaces, and post-installation support, DSSI Field Sport Expert Private Limited is working toward building sports facilities designed for durability, performance, and long-term usability across India’s evolving sporting landscape.
