The name 99Barkville perfectly reflects the spirit of the organization. “Barkville” represents a city of dogs—a safe haven where animals can find care, dignity, and belonging. The number “99” symbolizes being at full capacity while always making room for one more life in need. No matter how crowded the shelter becomes, the commitment remains unchanged: if an animal needs help, Barkville will find a way.
Today, the shelter provides refuge to more than 100 rescued pet and community dogs, along with cattle, goats, rabbits, birds, and equines. Every resident at Barkville carries a unique story. Some were abandoned by their owners, while others were rescued from roadsides after accidents, illness, abuse, or severe neglect. Many require long-term medical treatment, rehabilitation, behavioral support, or lifelong care.
Over the past three years, Barkville Foundation has made an extraordinary impact on animal welfare. The organization has successfully rescued more than 800 animals and provided emergency medical treatment to over 350 critical cases. Its dedicated veterinary team has conducted more than 100 surgeries and supported hundreds of rehabilitation cases, helping injured and vulnerable animals recover and regain a better quality of life.
The foundation also plays a vital role in public health and humane population management. Through its Animal Birth Control programme, Barkville has carried out sterilization procedures and administered approximately 1,000 anti-rabies vaccinations. Adoption remains one of the organization’s most important goals. Through dedicated rehabilitation and follow-up support, numerous rescued animals have found loving forever homes. Recently, Barkville’s rescued pups captured hearts when they participated in a pet fashion showcase by Tails & Threads Pet Couture by Archana Jain during Ahmedabad Fashion Week Season 3.
